To meet the objectives of the client, the web site was re-designed with a new look and user interface. A framework was developed to organize and display the site's content in a user friendly way.
To meet accessibility requirements, the site was built to conform to the W3C (World Wide Web Consortium) Web site Accessibility Standards. Cascading style sheets (CSS) were used to separate the page content from the page structure and graphical layout, thus making the pages more user friendly to assistive devices such as screen readers.
The sites audio stories were made more accessible by embedding a web accessible media player in the web page as well as providing text alternatives for rich media audio steams.
Much of the site content was put into a MySQL database to allow for easier content management. In addition, A content management area was provided where content can be added/edited/deleted by a web site administrator without any programming knowledge. |
