Client Objective
Design a computer based training unit to initiate visitors and contractors to the safety and site orientation requirements of a chemical manufacturing plant. The presentation had to have a generic introductory section followed by a detailed customized training path that would vary depending on each user's status and job responsibilities. The CBT piece had to be user friendly and educationally sound. It had to both periodically test for retention and also ensure that each user had covered the material required for his needs. For quality control and insurance liability reasons the presentation had to incorporate a permanent record of each user's training status.
Profile
Existing media is re-purposed into a visually powerful introduction followed by trainer determined instruction scenarios designed to provide each individual with training relevant to his or her specific needs. An intuitive user-friendly interface allows self-paced navigation through the required training material while periodic tests check for understanding and retention.
A simple log-in system enables the program to keep a permanent record of each individual's
performance and a printer interface completes the training process by providing each user with a
hard copy certificate that is then returned to the individual's supervisor to indicate satisfactory completion.
